I left off last time the reason why we were having the MRI and the results! So here is the events leading up to his MRI. The nurse called a couple days before the MRI to let us know that he could have nothing to eat after 2:30 am the day of his MRI. But from 2:30-6:30 he could have clear fluids, after 6:30am he could not have anything by mouth.
My first thought was oh great! Its going to be a long day. Mason usually eats first thing in the morning when he gets up!
Fast forward to the night before. I had decided I would wake him up at 6am to give him some juice and hopefully that would be enough to hold him (and he would go back to sleep since he usually doesnt wake up until around 10am anyways.)
Well my plan did not work out how I thought it would! Mason woke up at 5am so I gave him juice then. But he did not go back to sleep right away so at 6:20(close to cut off i offered him a bottle of water and layed him back in bed) this worked! He went back to sleep. Yay me!
So we had to be at the hospital at 8:30am, this was the problem. Katie and Noah get on the bus at 8:15. So it was gonna be a mad rush to the hospital. We tried not to wake Mason up until last minute since all we had to do was change him, clean him off, and dress him. He was not a happy camper! He was fine once he was in the car seat. By the time we found a parking space in the packed garage, passed security check point and went clear across the hospital to radiology it was 8:40. All in all we made good time!
We checked in and went to sit down when they called us back to the room. Mason was already freaking out because the nurse insisted on talking to him. (bad idea)So we get him weighed, temp took, blood pressure checked, now to wait on the Dr. to come in and check everything.
The nurse asked a ton of questions. After that they put cream on his hands to numb them for the IV. He did not like the fact that this stranger kept having to touch him. It just made his scream louder. Once the hands were numb they got his IV in. By this time it was 9:15. His MRI was to be at 9:30. So the nurse led us to a small waiting room just for MRI's and instructed us that one person needed to remain here at all times. We kissed Mason good bye and sat and waited.
While you are sitting there watching the clock it seems you are waiting forever when in all reality the total time from when they took him back to when they came to get us was and hour and five minutes!
They said he did well, he went right to sleep and had no problems during the MRI. He was very drowsy upon being woke up, also very crabby! He acted as though he was drunk, pretty funny to watch. Once he was awake they gave his some apple juice, made sure he was okay then let us go on our way. He slept most of the day, and was fine after that =)
